Six months in the making
Since as long as I can remember I've wanted to do something in fashion (see my above note written in 3rd grade). I didn't know what that "something" was until just a year or two ago. Growing up in NYC it's impossible not to take note of the unique style that every single individual has. In high school I found myself pulling styles from more urban brands and mixing them with some of the preppiest pieces. Oh, and to top it off I had a sneaker collection that outdoes my current collection of 5-inch heels. My goal became to dress the way I felt and stand apart from the crowd while doing it.
If you ask my husband what he thought the first time he laid eyes on me, he'll tell you he noticed my "weird furry moccasin boots". (Minnetonka was just beginning to surface on the feet of ladies in New York... but I wasn't in NYC, I was actually on a suburban college campus in the Northeast). Needless to say, I didn't dress like the other students I went to college with. Even with a limited budget I did my best to mix high and low and always looked for the more unique silhouettes, prints and accents.
I am often asked, "where did you buy that?" and sometimes told "I love that -- but I could never pull that off." The reality is that you can pull off anything that you feel yourself in. Aim for comfort and you'll feel confidence. If the item is calling you, give it a chance, play with it by pairing it with other favorites in your wardrobe.
I began planning the launch of ALIZEH since September 2014 and worked tirelessly to curate a collection of clothing that you'll love -- especially once you see it in person and feel it for yourself. I don't want to overwhelm you with hundreds of different t-shirt choices or lace dresses, I want to deliver to you only the very best, most unique, comfortable and good-quality additions to your wardrobe.
Just a few thank you's...
A very special thank you to my closest friends and family that have heard me talk about ALIZEH non-stop since I got started. (Thanks to my girls who haven't forgotten about me even though I've been missing in action the past few months!). A huge thank you to Jenna for shooting an incredible lookbook and giving me tips on how to take product pictures myself (I promise I'll get better at this soon!). Maria, I can't thank you enough. You brought to life the vision of this brand and understood exactly what I was going for from day 1 -- thank you for designing such a beautiful site. Paola, you built this site and made it so user friendly that hopefully I don't bother you too much moving forward...although I can't make any promises :-) Thanks for being so patient with me. A big thank you to Caro for spending her Saturday modeling looks for the site, I can't tell you how much I appreciate you volunteering your beautiful self for product shots! Lastly, thank you to my other half, Andrew. Without you I may have never pursued this dream. You encouraged me, pushed me and have shown me that anything is possible -- I am forever grateful for that. Also, thanks for taking on yet another job title Mr. CFO!
